Zustand: Wie neu. XI, 91 Seiten, 1 Blatt. Originalkarton. Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - The voluntary ethic in community care is concerned with a balance of giving and receiving, with participation and empowerment, with the encouragement of citizenship through volunteering and voluntary activity, with running services for local people managed by local people, and with the underpinning of a society in which individuals matter within an interdependent whole. In this forthright and stimulating book, Chris Heginbotham offers a fresh perspective on two current concerns: the nature of voluntary organisations and activities, and the future of community care. At a time when the voluntary sector is on the brink of massive change, he examines the nature of volunteering and voluntary activity, and pinpoints the shortcomings of much of the thinking from both left and right on issues such as citizenship, social welfare and social equality. The second half of Return to Communityaftexs a critique of current theory and practice in the field of community care. The author sets out his vision of a 'communitarian' approach, which will enable power and resources to be devoted to local people, who will then be able to participate more fully in defining and organising their own needs.
