Square 8vo. 63p. Profusely illustrated with black and white drawings by Emilie Toepperwein. This is the true story of a little boy in a Texas village whose father was the Deputy Sheriff and who delivered meals to the prisoners in the jail. Born in Texas in 1905, Fritz Arnold Toepperwein married Emilie Katherine Mathison [1922-1986] in California. They subsequently moved to Boerne, Texas. Fritz Toepperwine was the author of numerous books for juveniles, including FOOTNOTES OF THE BUCKHORN, I WANT TO BE A COWBOY, AND CHARCOAL AND CHARCOAL BURNERS. The Toepperweins also designed TEXAS BY THE POTOMAC in the same format as LITTLE DEPUTY. Signed by Author(s).
