Peacock wrote satirical novels, each with the same basic setting: characters at a table discussing and criticising the philosophical opinions of the day. With an introduction from the Hon. Lord Houghton, an English poet, patron of literature and a politician. Biographical notes from Edith Nicolls, the granddaughter of Peacock. Edited by Henry Cole, a British author and editor. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, sound with light rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards with small splits in the cloth to the head and tail of the spine, resulting in minor loss. A split to the front joint of volume one. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Light age toning to the endpapers. Some of the text block to volume three remains unopened. Good. book.
