First edition, Viscount Slim's copy, signed on the front free endpaper "Bill, Canberra 1956" and with his armorial bookplate. Slim served as Governor-General of Australia from 1953 to 1959. Decisive Battles launched the post-war revival of Fuller's reputation and is now considered a classic of military history. This is the third volume. Slim's Burma campaign, not touched on here, was "one of the most brilliant. conducted by a British general in the modern era" (ODNB). Octavo.
