A loose remake of the 1937 film, "Love is News" with Tyrone Power and Loretta Young, "Sweet Rosie O'Grady" finds Betty Grable in London, seeking to better herself as an artist, which in 1943 means landing a wealthy duke for a husband. But newspaperman Robert Young has other plans for her love life. Remade once more as a comedy in 1948, as "That Wonderful Urge," with Tyrone Power and Gene Tierney. Shot on location in California. 10 x 8 inches. Good, with profuse manuscript annotations to the verso and three to the recto, although not obscuring the image. Stamped to the verso.

This biographical work tells the story of William Muldoon, a New York-born athlete who was known for his powerful wrestling moves and later, for training a number of famous fighters, including Kid McCoy and Jake Kilrain. Muldoon led a varied and adventurous life, being known as "The Solid Man" in his wrestling years, and leading many others to victory. Written by Edward Van Every, with a foreword by American professional boxer and prior world heavyweight champion, Jack Dempsey, who was at one time trained by Muldoon.With fourteen photographs and a frontispiece. Joe Louis's mastery of the boxing ring made him a hero to African Americans, and later, a symbol of the power of Democracy over the Nazi regime. His 1938 rematch with German boxer Max Schmeling was held in Yankee Stadium, to an in-person audience of over 70,000 people, and tens of thousands of others breathlessly followed the fight over the radio - including a young Maya Angelou. She recalled the excitement and importance of Louis's victory to Black Americans in her essay CHAMPION OF THE WORLD: "The last inch of space was filled, yet people continued to wedge themselves along the walls of the Store. Uncle Willie had turned the radio up to its last notch so that youngsters on the porch wouldn't miss a word [.] Champion of the world. A Black boy. Some Black mother's son.
