A young boy, one of the Beta Israel of Ethopia, a group who had been isolated from other Jews for centuries, and who preserved their Judaism despite pogroms, slavery, and forced conversions, tells the story of his life and his people. When drought and famine struck Ethopia, their already difficult situation became worse and hundreds may have died in the refugee camps, but he was among those rescued and relocated to Israel. illustrated with black and white pencil drawings by Alemu Eshetie who was also from Ethiopia and now lives in Israel.
