Both 12mo, The manuscript poem, 12 lines, is signed in full at the bottom and accompanys a 2-p. letter to a Mr. Russell. There appears to be no relationship between the poem (likely a World War I composition), and the letter. Mildred Howells (1872-1966), daughter of the American novelist William Dean Howells, was herself a poet and artist. The letter, also 12mo, and containing approx. 130 words, is addressed to Mr. Russell, apparently of a publishing firm, and concerns Mildred Howell's proposed collaborative book with co-author Rose Standish Nichols (1872-1960), the landscape architect and women's rights activist.
