In den WarenkorbAn oversized black and white photograph of the Rehnquist Supreme Court, signed by all nine justices. A candid image capturing the justices sharing a laugh, reportedly reacting to a joke by Justice Brennan during a break in a formal portrait session in the East Conference Room in 1986. Boldly signed on the mount below the image in black ink, each justice near his or her own portrait, by Sandra Day O'Connor, Lewis F. Powell Jr., John Paul Stevens, Antonin Scalia, Thurgood Marshall, William J. Brennan Jr., William H. Rehnquist, Byron R. White, and Harry A. Blackmun. A brief typed note affixed to the verso requests that the justices sign the photograph for the Public Information Office. In very good condition. The entire piece measures 12.75 inches by 17.5 inches. Rare. The Rehnquist Court refers to the Supreme Court of the United States from 1986 to 2005, the years in which William H. Rehnquist served as Chief Justice. Elevated from Associate Justice to succeed Warren Burger, Rehnquist presided over a Court generally regarded as more conservative than the Burger and Warren Courts before it, advancing a philosophy of New Federalism that sought to return certain powers to the states. This photograph captures the Court in its earliest form under Rehnquist, when Antonin Scalia had only just joined and Lewis F. Powell, Thurgood Marshall, and William J. Brennan, three towering figures of the twentieth-century Court, were all still serving. Powell would retire in 1987, followed in time by Marshall and Brennan, which makes a fully signed image of this particular bench especially desirable.…

Blackmun, Lewis F. Powell, William H. Rehnquist, John Paul Stevens, and Sandra Day O'Connor. Thurgood Marshall is autopen. In fine condition. The piece measures 8 inches by 6 inches. The Supreme Court of the United States is the highest court in the federal judiciary of the United States of America. It has ultimate appellate jurisdiction over all federal and state court cases that involve a point of federal law, and original jurisdiction over a narrow range of cases, specifically "all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party". The Court holds the power of judicial review, the ability to invalidate a statute for violating a provision of the Constitution. Established by Article Three of the United States Constitution, the composition and procedures of the Supreme Court were initially established by the 1st Congress through the Judiciary Act of 1789. As later set by the Judiciary Act of 1869, the Court consists of the chief justice of the United States and eight associate justices.…

In den WarenkorbLarge photograph of the 1980's Burger Court, signed by nine justices. Powell, Warren E. Burger, William H. Rehnquist, Byron R. White, Sandra Day O'Connor, and Harry C. Blackmun. Framed. In fine condition. The entire piece measures 13.5 inches by 10 inches. Rare and desirable. An attractive image of this important court which presided over a number of issues relating to equality and freedom. The Warren Court is best known for its landmark decisions, which outlawed segregation in public schools and transformed many areas of American law, especially regarding the rights of the accused, ending public school-sponsored prayers, and requiring "one manâ"one vote" rules of apportionment of election districts. He made the Supreme Court a power center on a more even basis with Congress and the Presidency, especially through four landmark decisions: Brown v. Board of Education (1954), Gideon v. Wainwright (1963), Reynolds v. Sims (1964), and Miranda v. Arizona (1966).…
