As I understand it, these diaries were published to commemorate the Centenial of Souderton, Pennsylvania s incorporation as a Borough among the local areas just to the north of Philadelphia. The book is titled: Diaries of William Souder Hemsing An Intimate Look at Souderton, Pennsylvania 1885-1888, 1902-1906 & 1918 . Apparently, some of the diaries of the intervening years were lost. A reviewer associated with the Pennsylvania State University is a bit critical of this book noting that it is under-edited . The book does however record the subtle changes that took place in the area as it was transformed from a sectarian orientation to a more secular place. This large hard cover book (7 x 11 ¼ inches, 494 pages plus a few pages of Appendices with some illustrations) was published with the support of the Union National Bank and Trust Company of Souderton, dated 1987 and the First (and perhaps only) Edition. The book is bound in tan cloth with a quarter spine and leading edge in maroon cloth with gilt titles and decorations on cover and spine. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The hard covers are very slightly rubbed at the edges, barely noticeable. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are bright white throughout without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
