A self-designed model is used to do the simulation. For flow with low Reynolds number, the drag is all due to skin friction. As the Reynolds number increase, the separation of boundary starts to happen. For high Reynolds number, the eddy breaks off from the cylinder. A neural network has the advantage of very fast implementation of an SVPWM algorithm that can increase the inverter switching frequency. The scheme has been simulated and comparative study is given with the existing PWM schemes. A unilateral system to achieve this is implemented using robotic arm as the actuator for reconstructing arm gestures, and computer vision for the sensor. Two cameras are used for tracking the motion of the shoulder, elbow and hand from both the front and side view of the user in order to calculate the joint angles that represent the arm pose. The tracking is done using grayscale correlation. Issues such as arm motion tracking, occlusion, arm motion transmission delay, imitation accuracy, actuator size, performance, acceptance and appropriateness are investigated. The results from the subjective evaluation show that imitation accuracy is not really a paramount aspect in the reconstruction of the gestures, which is counter-intuitive. The low bit rate nature of gesture transmission makes the handling of its traffic attractive even in the network such as the Internet. Human visual interface evaluations are conducted to confirm the display choice for the visual information presentation and the suitable terminal configuration for the system core hardware. The results show that 3D display is preferred over the conventional 2D display as the visual information representation actuator due to closeness to natural face-to-face conversation. On the other hand, a laptop PC type terminal is chosen as the 3D videophone core hardware since sufficient level of eye contact can be maintained during video communication. Evaluation of the degradation and delay of audio and 3D visual signals due to ATM network impairments is performed to verify the suitability of ATM network for handling the transmission of 3D videophone signals. The effects of the impairments are evaluated by comparison between unimpaired and impaired signals.
