THE RAREST BOOK ILLUSTRATED BY "B.B.", first illustrated edition, limited to 200 copies, this copy number 150, 6 full-page engraved illustrations by "B.B.", inscribed in ink on front endpaper "John from Hughie July 1971", original plum cloth, privately printed 1967. This charming ghost story was written by Alan, 8th Duke of Northumberland and published in 1930. As stated in the preface his son Hugh, 10th Duke, decided with his friend Col C. G. Lancaster to reprint the book in a small limited edition for their friends. Almost certainly it woulld have been Col Lancaster who owned Kelmarsh Hall, Northamptonshire, near to the home of B.B., who would have suggested commisioning him to illustrate the book. The book was never made available to the general public. On the rear endpaper in pencil is a list of the fictional names given to the woods in the story against their real names.
