In 1882 the author's father sailed for Central China to take charge of a small mission hospital single-handed. Within the next 68 years his family gave their hearts and medical skills to that country. It was a period of danger, revolution and disease, but successful surgical operations were achieved. They also believed and proved that physical and spiritual healing are inter-related. In this book the Gillison family's story and the account of the author's own work and spiritual search by portraits of some outstanding contemporaries and the background history of a China in the throes of turbulent growth. The book is bound in the original laminated boards and is in very good condition with fading to the spine and top and spine edges of the rear board. The spine ends are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with foxing on the top edge of the text block. There is no inscription.
