Randy Wilson was not born Randy Wilson; he was born Randall Scott Crossett. In his teenage years, he learned from his father, that the family name was originally spelled with an, "e" on the end Crossette. Randy has always been a little, shall we say, on the fringes of normal life and so. to distinguish himself, Randy put the, "e" back, on the end of his name. And became, Randall S Crossette or as his friends knew him just, "Randy." He left home at 17 and began supporting himself; first working at a McDonalds and other various typical places young people get jobs but Randy was always, eventually fired, from every job he ever had, pretty much. It would be years before they had a name for it and anyone knew what to call Randy, officially but Randy suffered from what they now call, "A Personality Disorder." He suffered with terrible bouts of Depression, sometimes for weeks at a time but then he would always bounce back and be the happy, wildly creative and talented and willing to try just about anything, Randy that everyone knew and loved.
Randy discovered, at a very young age, that he had a gift for writing. He enjoyed poetry, from his very youngest days and use to bring home poems he had written in elementary school. When Randy was about 8 years old, he saw a neighborhood boy playing piano in his garage and Randy was Jealous of all the attention the boy was getting from the girls. To make a long story short, Randy went home and learned to play the piano by ear and continued playing for years and years.
When he was in his 20's, he wrote a poem called, "Memory of Love." To his utter shock and amazement, when he sat down at a piano, he pulled out the poem and discovered he had another talent; he could literally play the poem. He could not read music but he could read words and translate them into music and he could do it almost, like magic! That was about 1970 when this all took place and from that day forward, Randy didn't just write poems but he often would write both the poem and the music that went with it.
Randy had a friend, up in Alturas, California, by the name of John Hawkins who knew Randy wrote and played and one day John, got brave enough to show Randy, something he had written. Randy sat down and played it for him. The poem/song is known today by it's title, "The Mountain" and you can hear it at the following link:

The many places Randy has lived and visited, provides constant inspiration for new writings. Randy has a large collection of children's books he is making ready for publication but much of his poetry, often speaks of the darker side of life as well. He has commented on everything from Greed and War, to Politics. His book series, "Life According To Randy," uses both Poetry and pictures, to document his extraordinary life and his many adventures.
His writings are often, like this bio; very personal and open and many have been known to cry, upon reading some of the stories, from his life.
