David LaChapelle

Despite growing up in a far from perfect home, David LaChapelle went on to earn two diplomas in computer engineering from Seneca College in Toronto. As he grew older, LaChapelle constantly searched for a reason as to why his mother treated him so poorly. Through a multitude of self-help books, he found his answer. While attending Carleton University in Ottawa for political science, he found himself in a dangerous psychotic state. In denial over his current state, he packed up his life and went on a cross-country journey with a girl he met in the mental ward at North York General Hospital in Toronto. Thus was born the story behind “David’s Adventure with Schizophrenia.” Now a born-again Christian who has recovered from his disease, LaChapelle has published his first book and earned a psychology degree from Trent University.
