Malene Breytenbach
From the author:
I was born in South Africa but lived in Zimbabwe (when it was still Rhodesia) until the age of fourteen, after which we emigrated to South Africa and lived in Pretoria. There I met Willie Breytenbach who gave me a very special only daughter, Karen, who recently rewarded us with beautiful granddaughter Mia.
At my English schools in Zimbabwe I realized that I did well with essays and any kind of writing. At my Afrikaans Pretoria school I had to master the language. It was only after moving to Stellenbosch, studying and working at the university for years, that I decided to start writing fiction. The result, up to date, is more than 30 romances (contemporary, historical and medical) and four novels. I do a lot of research to make my stories informative. My first novel is set in colonial Kenya and Zimbabwe: Gister is 'n ver land. (The translation will appear on Amazon as Yesterday is a Lost Country.) I subsequently wrote Pluimprinse and Bloedgrond. Eenoogkoning is my fourth novel.
I have written various artcles and short stories too, one of which is included in Bloots under the title Polvye.
Once I caught the writing virus, at last, there was no cure. I am hooked for life. Writing has its ups and downs, but is is a most satisfying occupation. I hope the readers enjoy the escapism or the focus om relevant problems that I offer them.
