Lovely, uncommon, one sided broadside poem by Jim Gustafson published by the inimitable Alternative Press out of Detroit, who published many incredible works on lovely, fine papers with great letterpress and printing technique. This lively poem printed on a kind of olive green paper measuring aprox 12" x 8" with deckled bottom edge and pressed with a beautiful silver pictorial titling. The piece has no date on it. Generally well kept, with one very faint but slightly longer crease towards the bottom right and much shallower but more pronounced creasing at the top left. Ever so slightly so to the top right as well. These three little bits of wear dont detract all that much from the final appearance and presence of the work, and should look quite lovely if framed and hung.

Erstausgabe
Corner-stapled sheets 11" x 8-1/2", photocopied, cover sheet with printed title + [6pp]. Tri-fold (as issued), with original creases, else Fine. Signed in the original on final page: "A Call To Poets / Jim Gustafson / Good Friday 1984." Self-published, privately distributed long poem by the beloved Detroit poet, known for his brash and declamatory writing style and also his outsized personality (which occasionally expanded beyond its limits as in 1990, when he made headlines for drunkenly interrupting a poetry reading at the Detroit Institute of Arts; in the ensuing scuffle with security guards he went through a plate-glass door, winding up in the hospital. The incident became known in Cass Corridor folklore as "The Gustafson Exit"). He was a close friend of Romanian-American poet Andrei Codrescu, who eulogized him on National Public Radio following his premature death in 1996. This work appears quite uncommon; it is not recorded in OCLC and we can trace no copies in commerce.
