Preface is dated 1731. Memoirs run through page 30. Appendix on pages 31-39, written by James Blake, Junior. Clap arrived in America in 1630. His memoirs includ…e names of other early settlers and descriptions of their conditions, all heavily salted with a closely-watching God. "About that time, or not long after, God permitted Satan to stir up the Pequot Indians to kill divers Englishmen, as Mr. Oldham, Mr. Tilly, and others." Clap (or Clapp) arrived on the Mary and John in 1630 and settled in Dorchester. His memoirs were originally written in about 1680. First published in 1731. This edition is Sabin 13208.
