The scarce signed first edition of The Exile's Lute, a poetic anthology, written by Welsh poet Ernest H…oward Harris. Published by Erskine Macdonald in 1919.In the publisher's original turquoise paper boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Harris's signed inscription is on the front free end paper.Harris, later the author of the anthology A Swansea Boy, was a poet particularly reflective of his Welsh heritage and the whimsical poems in this particular anthology demonstrate this. As well as a focus on Welsh natural beauty, Harris also writes poems concerned with Celtic and Medieval folklore, including the Arthurian Legends. In the publisher's original turquoise paper boards, in the original unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, very smart with clean boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. A couple of small marks to top left of rear board. Dust wrapper is smart, with slight signs of shelf wear. A very minor chip to tail of the spine, and a small closed tear to top edge of wrapper. A couple of marks to the rear wrapper and fading, heaviest to the wrapper spine. End papers are generally bright and clean, with small faint spotting. The poet's signed inscription to the front free end paper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with a slight crease to the final leaf. Very Good. None (illustrator). signed by author. book.
