Fine. - Over 140 words penned in purple ink on 3 sides of a 6-5/8 inch high by 4-7/8 inch wide pictorial note card with a color illustration of Labrie's painting "Unknown Child in a Red Dress". Inside the card Rose Labrie has penned a detailed description of the watercolor by Walt Kuhn which Kuhn's daughter Brenda Kuhn is gifting her and signed in full "Rose Labrie". On the verso of the card, she has penned an extensive note addressed to "Brenda & Steven" letting them know that "Here is the requested information on the watercolor." She looks forward to visiting the art museum the week her show ends. Signed "Rose". There is an indentation and light stain from a paper clip at the bottom of one edge. Else fine. Together with the retained carbon copy of the August 27, 1975 letter which Brenda Kuhn wrote to the finance attorneys Miller & Castner gifting the painting to Rose Labrie. The copy is signed in ink "Brenda Kuhn". The Portsmouth, New Hampshire author, children's book illustrator and primitive artist Rose Labrie (1916-1986) was born in Boston and moved to Vermont as a child. Her memories of West Hartford, Vermont inspired her children's stories and paintings. She started her career as a journalist before turning to painting and writing, first about historical monuments & lighthouses and later authoring children's books. Her works include "Dancer's Image", "King, The Leprechaun Pony", etc.
