The West has always belonged to fire and to those who burn. We Are the West: Embers is a searing collection of prose, poetry, and artwork from the voices of Colorado and Wyoming — voices that crackle, smolder, and refuse to be extinguished.

Edited by James P. Stuart, Marissa Forbes, Abigail Byrd Stapleton, Cecily Stone, and Trystan Popish, this third edition of the We Are the West anthology series gathers stories of transformation, resilience, and raw beauty. These pages are filled with sparks—stories and poems that challenge, unsettle, and illuminate. Some burn slow, their heat lingering long after the final word. Others rage with uncontained intensity, igniting deep truths and pushing beyond the boundaries of expectation.

For those who have ever felt the pull of the horizon, the heat of revolution, or the quiet power of a lingering spark, Embers will light the way.
