Webster's New Explorer Medical Dictionary

Created in cooperation with the editors of Merriam-Webster, this update of the 1999 edition of an economical, compact dictionary of medical English contains definitions for some 37,000 commonly used terms in human and veterinary medicine. Newer terms include bird flu, genomics, LASIK, and SARS. Features include examples of words used in context, cross-referencing of drug trade and generic names and of compound terms. The volume begins with explanatory notes on word etymology, usage, pronunciation, and such standards, and concludes with signs and symbols in medicine and allied fields.
