Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Frances Ruley Karttunen graduated from Nantucket High School in 1960. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Radcliffe College/Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Indiana University. Upon retirement from the University of Texas at Austin, she returned home and since then has produced nine books about Nantucket. She has also been a contributing writer for Yesterday’s Island, Today’s Nantucket, and a long-time member of the Friends of the African Meeting House on Nantucket, where she has organized programs since 1999. In 2011, she was named a Research Fellow of the Nantucket Historical Association.
