Her daddy was just a small town preacher. But that was before. He ain’t nothin’ now… except dead. What truly happened between 19-year-old Jaime Jo Tremper, Tommy Harris, and her daddy would be the subject of conjecture for years to come. Yet secrets always trump gossip in a small town, and only those involved, and their maker, can ever really know the truth. Jaime Jo and Tommy have a history together, and the scars to bear for it, both mental and physical. No one ever expected to hear from Tommy again after being packed off to war. Yet two years later, resilient as a cockroach, the Special Forces psychopath comes home to the mountains of North Carolina to claim his girl. The overwhelmed local sheriff does his best to separate the two, but love can be a powerful thing, not everything is as it seems, and only Jaime Jo and Tommy know the truth. As a desperate young woman places her fate in the hands of her Lord, a vengeful Vietnam vet takes matters into his own, coming home to save his girl and finally end the nightmare that began the day Tommy Harris met Jaime Jo Tremper.
