When a chaotic event planner and a grumpy Marine with a shared past are forced back together, will they take their second chance—or leave love out in the cold?

Gina Smith has a plan to survive her stressful family visit and their annual Christmas party: fake smiles, wine, and avoiding eye contact with her past. And she nails it—until Ben Richardson walks in. Her former high school crush. Her sister’s ex. The center of her most embarrassing high school memory. And with her history, that’s saying something.

Now a Marine, he’s all broad shoulders, irritating reserve, and military discipline. He wears a perma-scowl that practically dares her to misbehave. The problem? Gina has never met a dare she doesn’t like.
Ben’s life runs on order, duty, and doing the right thing for his family. Falling for a chaotic, filter-free, unpredictable squirrel of a human like Gina? No chance. He’s traditional. She’s a free spirit. She calls him out—and somehow makes him want exactly what he’s always denied.

When a Christmas snowstorm strands them together, Gina can’t resist the obvious solution to the straining tension between them: a no-strings hookup. One night. Zero complications. Her life is in Delaware. He lives in San Diego. Simple.

But one night turns into texts. Texts turn into calls. And suddenly, the woman Ben can’t figure out becomes the one person who makes the world feel steady—even when he’s deployed thousands of miles away. When he returns, he’s seen enough to know life is too short to wait for the things you want. And what he wants is Gina.

Gina has reasons for needing her independence. Despite their explosive chemistry and deepening friendship, she’s sworn never to relying on anyone—especially a man whose life belongs to the military, let alone one who could break her heart. Again.

Will it take a Christmas miracle for her to let go of her past and give them a second chance? And is Ben willing to wait?
