Vol. 4: LV, 404 p., Vol. 5: 408-847 p. Aus der Bibliothek von Prof. Wolfgang Haase, langjährigem Herausgeber der ANRW und des International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT) / From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Vol. 4: Bleistiftanmerkung auf Schmutztitel, eine Seite weist einen kleinen Einriss auf, sonst guter Zustand, Vol. 5: ein gutes Exemplar / Vol. 4: pencil annotation on half title, one page has a small tear, otherwise good condition, Vol. 5: a good copy. - The Collected Works of John Stuart Mill was directed by an editorial committee appointed from the Faculty of Arts and Science of the University of Toronto and from the University of Toronto Press, and it was published from 1963 to 1991 in thirty-three hardcover volumes. The primary aim of the edition is to present fully collated, accurate texts of those works which exist in a number of versions, both printed and manuscript, and to provide accurate texts of those works previously unpublished or which had become relatively inaccessible. Liberty Fund is pleased to make available in paperback eight volumes of Mills writings that remain most relevant to liberty and responsibility in the twenty-first century. Mills Autobiography gives a vivid account of his life, especially his unique education. The Principles of Political Economy, a compendium of economic theory and fact, was the leading economic textbook for decades. Primarily of interest to economists, his Essays on Economics and Society nevertheless contains material of interest to all students of the politics and society of nineteenth-century England. The most indispensable work in understanding his thought is A System of Logic, Ratiocinative and Inductive, which was the first serious attempt to methodize induction in relation to deduction. Essays on Ethics, Religion and Society, one of the most important volumes in the CollectedWorks, includes the major documents for an assessment of Mills response to Benthamite utilitarianism and for understanding his development of an independent moral position. / Contents 1824-1845 introduction, by Lord Robbins textual introduction, by J.
