President Gordon B Hinckley declared, "So long as this Church lasts, . . . [and] its history is written and known, the John Johnson home will have a prominent place in that history". For the Prophet Joseph Smith, September 1831 to September 1832 was a remarkable year of revelations in the John and Alice Johnson Home in Hiram, Ohio. In the ten months that he and Emma actually lived there, the Prophet received sixteen sections of the Doctrine and Covenants and part of another, including the revelation of the three degrees of glory, the preface and appendix to the Book of Commandments, and the foundational instructions for building the restored Church of Jesus Christ. He likewise completed over half of the more than 3,400 inspired revisions in the Bible translation and experienced the horrific tarring and feathering. Voice of the Lord offers much more than just the history of the short time Joseph and Emma spent in the Johnson home. We invite you to deepen your understanding of the significant role this sacred site played in the restoration of the Church of Jesus Christ. This increased knowledge will strengthen your witness of the Doctrine and Covenants - truthfulness and renew your testimony of the Savior's divinity and majesty.
