What happens when the perfect facade of a diplomatic family crumbles, leaving a young girl to navigate the wreckage alone? When privilege and prestige give way to abandonment and trauma, how does one find the strength to survive? In this powerful memoir, Stephanie Pleasant reveals the raw truth behind growing up as a diplomat's daughter in beautiful Argentina and her journey from opulence to survival. From the lavish diplomatic circles of Buenos Aires to the harsh realities of life as an abandoned teenager in Atlanta, Stephanie's story is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. As the daughter of a former Air Force pilot turned diplomat, she lived a life of privilege, complete with maids, chauffeurs, and the expectations of perfection. But beneath the sophisticated veneer lay a family dynamic filled with emotional distance and mounting dysfunction. When her father abandons her at a crisis center, declaring her 'incorrigible,' Stephanie begins a harrowing journey through trauma that would break most spirits. Yet, through her remarkable journey of survival, she shows an extraordinary capacity to endure and find hope in the darkest of circumstances. Her unique perspective, moving from the highest echelons of diplomatic society to the struggles of navigating life alone, offers readers an unprecedented view of both worlds and the strength and courage required to survive in each. 'Vestiges of Light' is more than a memoir - it's a beacon of hope for anyone who has ever felt abandoned, lost, or betrayed by those they trusted most. This compelling narrative shows that even in our darkest moments, there are always vestiges of light guiding us toward survival and healing.

Stephanie Pleasant halted her flourishing career creating websites to pursue writing Vestiges of Light. It was a calling that came one evening while staring out back at the big Magnolia tree and would not release her until she purged the powerful memoir onto paper. Earning her black belt at 44 helped her overcome learned fears and a lack of confidence. Writing and finishing Vestiges of Light, 25 years later, helped her heal from emotional trauma and profound loss. Today, Stephanie lives in Tennessee with her love, Mike. They share a beautiful home with two precious rescue pups, a Maltipoo and a Havanese. Their family includes six adult children and five fabulous grandchildren!
