The tribal leadership alongwith the tribal culture is in the process of transition. The processes of urbanisation and industrialisation as well as implementation of various development schemes and democratic experiments, including successive elections, have, in many ways, brought about transformation in the traditional complex of political behaviour and leadership. As a result, the traditional leadership too is in a state of transition and owing to its effective articulation at the state and national levels, there is further shift in the nature and pattern of tribal leadership. This volume presents a systematic and comprehensive picture of the traditional, transitional and emerging patterns of tribal leadership in Rajasthan. It further examines the tribal leadership in terms of ecological, economic and social structural settings. It also brings out the attributes of tribal leadership and its typological classification based on the attitudinal as well as biographical analyses of tribal leaders. Printed Pages: 196. Buchbeschreibung "Scheduled castes and scheduled tribes constitute about 16 and 20 per cent of total population of Madhya Pradesh, respectively. Because of social and physical segregation, the rate of their participation in the development process was very limited. Their presence in political sphere, particularly in the Panchayati Raj institutions was notional before the 73rd Constitutional Amendment. Today, there are thousands of dalits and adivasis at different levels of PRI. The present book addresses various issues concerning scheduled tribes and scheduled castes in the state. Artikel-Nr.
