We often think that trauma happens to a very small percentage of the population in extreme stressful situations like a natural disaster, a plane crash, or severe physical abuse. However, experts today consider trauma to be the invisible epidemic of childhood. Traumas can develop at any time in our lives, but childhood is the most likely time due to its inherent vulnerability. A stressful situation becomes traumatic if the adult prevents the child from expressing the emotions they have experienced. Additionally, phrases like "it's nothing" or "don't cry over that" can make the situation traumatic.
In this book by Rafa Guerrero, a psychotherapist specializing in trauma and attachment, we will understand what trauma is and what we can do to prevent it. We will see that some normalized situations in our society, such as punishment, blackmail, and emotional abandonment, are potentially traumatic in childhood. Rafa Guerrero es licenciado en Psicología Clínica y de la Salud por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM). Doctor en Educación. Experto en Psicología Educativa. Máster en Psicoterapia Breve. Experto en TDAH, trastornos del aprendizaje y problemas de conducta. Experto en Psicoterapia Breve con niños y adolescentes. Experto en Clínica e intervención en trauma mediante EMDR. Ha trabajado durante varios años como orientador en un colegio concertado de la Comunidad de Madrid. En la actualidad es director de Darwin Psicólogos, un centro de referencia en Madrid especializado en problemas de gestión emocional, trauma, apego y TDAH. Es antiguo profesor de la Facultad de Educación de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) y del la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (URJC), entre otras.

Rafa Guerrero has a degree in Clinical and Health Psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). Doctor of Education. Expert in Educational Psychology. Master's Degree in Brief Psychotherapy. Expert in ADHD, learning disorders and behavioral problems. Expert in Brief Psychotherapy with children and adolescents. Expert in Clinical and Trauma Intervention using EMDR. He has worked for several years as a counselor in a state-subsidized school in the Community of Madrid. He is currently the director of Darwin Psicólogos, a reference center in Madrid specialized in emotional management problems, trauma, attachment and ADHD. He is a former professor at the Faculty of Education of the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and the Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), among others.
