Go beyond just labeling feelings. Help your child understand the reasons behind them.

Understanding emotions is not always easy. While many children's books stop at teaching kids how to identify a feeling, Things I Can't See takes the next crucial step. It gently guides children to observe, reflect, and connect those emotions to real life situations.

Why is the lady happy? Why is the boy sad? Through everyday scenarios and guided questioning, this internationally beloved picture book empowers children to build deep empathy, social awareness, and perspective-taking skills. Designed as a practical tool for homes and classrooms, it aligns seamlessly with the CASEL framework for Social-Emotional Learning (SEL).

Why Parents, Teachers, and Therapists Love Things I Can't See:

  • Fosters Deep Empathy: Encourages curiosity about how others feel, helping children build stronger and more compassionate relationships.
  • Supports Neurodivergent Learners: Highly effective for kids on the autism spectrum who need extra support reading social cues.
  • A Gentle Parenting Essential: Provides conscious parents with a practical framework to navigate big emotions and everyday communication.
  • Interactive & Engaging: Uses expressive, captivating illustrations alongside thoughtful questions to make read-aloud time a meaningful developmental exercise.

Whether you are a parent practicing gentle parenting, a teacher building an inclusive classroom, or an educator looking for practical SEL resources, Things I Can't See bridges the gap between seeing an emotion and truly understanding it. Lexile® Measure: 540L
