Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy

Intended for the first course in counselling and/or counselling theories for undergraduate and graduate students in psychology, counsellor education, and the human services and mental health services professions, this text covers nine contemporary theories of counselling and demonstrates how each theory can be applied to a single case (Stan). Corey's goal is to provide students with a sound base they can use for building a personalized style of counselling that incorporates the thinking, feeling, and behaving dimensions of human experience. Students should learn to select wisely from the various theories and techniques and develop an understanding of the professional and personal issues that emerge in the counselling relationship.
