A heartwarming picture book about preparing for new experiences, embracing differences, and growing together—featuring a boy with autism and a caring friend.

Leo is excited—it’s his very first trip to the theater! But like many children, especially those with autism, new places can feel a little overwhelming. With the help of his caring family, a thoughtful teacher, and his kind friend Ada, Leo prepares step-by-step for what’s ahead. What starts with worries turns into wonder, as a colorful world opens before him on stage.

Told through real-life photos and simple, supportive language, this inclusive story helps children understand what to expect, manage big feelings, and celebrate each other’s differences.

✨ This book is for everyone:

• For children with autism or sensory sensitivities, it offers comfort, predictability, and a character they can see themselves in.

• For children with typical development, it builds empathy, awareness, and the ability to support others with kindness.

Perfect for families, classrooms, and therapists, At the Theater is more than a story—it’s a tool for connection. It’s part of our Growing Together series, designed to nurture emotional intelligence from the earliest years.

Give your child the gift of perspective, and let them discover the beauty of growing together.
