Buchbeschreibung Amsterdam. Cloth. Zustand: Very Good. N.d., late 19th century. Folio, 49 by 34 cm. With forty hand-colored plates of window and bed treatments -- elaborate drapery, canopies, head and foot boards. While the basic outlines of the plates were printed, the plates come off as through and through watercolors or original artwork. The styles of the drapery and bed sets is often Art Nouveau, with a strong dollop of the Louis's -- the Rococo of the XV, the classical of the XVI, some XIII baroque, etc. Across the board these were designs for august, rich settings, from the time that Art Nouveau was the rage, and a strong taste for the formal eclecticism that prevailed during that time. This catalogue was almost not published as such, but rather, is a compilation of individual plates prepared for the company and served as a salesman's sampler or possibly as an in-house record. Other than inked captioned stock numbers, the individual plates are very decorative and one can easily imagined any one of them being framed as an artwork unto itself. Scarce -- no copies of this or anything else by this company located on OCLC First Search. Condition: the spine has a few tears and small rub holes. The plates are all spectacular. Artikel-Nr. 006087
