London. Eyre and Spottiswoode. No Date. Thought to have originally been published in 1884. From the library of the wife of Dr Thomas Stapleton who was an eminent paediatrician of the previous century. Inscription in beautiful cursive with her name dated 1896. Contemporary dark brown limp full-leather binding in calf with "Teacher's Prayer Book" in gilt to top left hand cover and to spine. Authors name in gilt at the spine tail. Some rubbing to the leather at the spine ends. Rounded corners with no wear. White spotting to front cover. Front end paper and prelims up to the introduction are loose in the text but complete and minimal wear. All edges red. This new edition has a glossary prepared by Anthony Lawson Mayhew of Wadham College, Oxford. Hinges and binding are firm and overall this is an attractive copy of the title.
