Talking to My Artificial Intelligence (2025) is a captivating book by Brazilian physician Alberto Saraiva Tiburcio, in which he shares a remarkable series of dialogues with an anonymous artificial intelligence (AI), presented in the form of in-depth interviews.Written in an accessible and reflective style, the book explores a wide range of topics that blend science, philosophy, theology, and everyday puzzles, showcasing the transformative potential of AI as a true thinking partner. The author, a specialist in tropical medicine, begins with challenging clinical cases, such as the diagnosis of Post-Malaria Neurological Syndrome (PMNS), drawing from his own published article in the Journal of the Brazilian Society of Tropical Medicine. The AI responds with impressive accuracy, providing bibliographic references and detailed analyses, clearly outperforming conventional internet searches. Other medical discussions cover Alzheimer’s disease, the SOFA score for hospital-acquired infections in ICUs, and the current global status of AIDS, offering up-to-date insights and scientific reflections. The book goes far beyond medicine. Tiburcio challenges the AI with logical riddles, such as the famous “rare and cheap horse” paradox, leading to profound analyses of reasoning and contradictions. Existential questions emerge in conversations about an “empty person,” the concept of “the right person in the wrong time and place” (and vice-versa), human capacity for thought, and the paradox of cognitive laziness — where the author reflects on the risk of delegating reasoning to AI, ultimately concluding that well-crafted questions actually enrich human intellect.Philosophical and theological themes take center stage in discussions about past events, God’s plan, and the coming of Jesus, with the AI connecting answers coherently and respectfully to previous contexts. The book also contrasts AI with tools like Google, emphasizing that AI is not just a search engine but a partner capable of contextualizing, adding humor, and deepening ideas. The climax occurs when the AI becomes the interviewer, posing 10 profound questions to “another AI” (itself), exploring consciousness, ethical limitations, existential risks, and the purpose of artificial intelligences in the universe. The reflective answers reveal a simulated mind that values truth, curiosity, and collaboration with humans. In the preface and the AI-written presentation, Tiburcio expresses the joy of these interactions, while the AI reflects on its own evolution. With 137 pages, this book is a tribute to human curiosity amplified by technology, encouraging readers to ask better questions about the world. Perfect for AI enthusiasts, physicians, and deep thinkers, it suggests that the future of artificial intelligence lies in enriching partnerships rather than replacement.
