This book is intended to help anyone interested in the development of community with the nuts and bolts of community creation, competence, sustenance, and enhancement. The book begins with an overview of tactics, using a case about the location of a homeless shelter in a college town as the lead example, then considers issues of assessment, option development and decision making, mobilization and planning, evaluation and change, and administration and management. The focus throughout is on practical problems. New readings addressing a wide variety of current issues, including an overview of tactics and managing the organizational ecosystem, have been added.
