Gebiete dem Weckrufe Einenkels in der Einleitung zu seinen „streifz�gen durch die mittelenglische Syntax nur in geringer Zahl gefolgt. Das fr�hme. Gebiet ist von der artigen Einzelstudien bisher mit �ngstlicher Sorgfalt verschont geblieben.

Vorliegende Arbeit, welche sich „syntaktische Kapitel aus der Ancren Riwle betitelt und auf Anregung meines hochverehrten Lehrers. Des Herrn Prof. Brandl, ent standen ist, soll mit der Ausf�llung dieser L�cke be ginnen und aus dem sw. Englands Stoff zu einer fr�hme. Syntax bieten. Gern h�tte ich das Thema allgemeiner gefasst; das Material zu einer Wort und Satzf�gung des Denkmals war gesammelt. Doch schritt die Ver arbeitung nur langsam vorw�rts.
