Are you an emotional eater?
Losing weight is physical. Keeping it off is emotional, but dealing with those emotions is very spiritual. Author Teresa Shields Parker says “This process involves every part of us.” Once weighing 430 pounds, she struggled with weight most of her life. Now, after losing more than 260 pounds, she has identified some secrets not just for losing weight, but for keeping it off! She has experienced a total transformation of body, soul and spirit.
Freedom from the yo-yo dieting syndrome and control of certain foods is possible with God's help. The walls standing in your way of freedom will crumble, if you are willing to dig deep to unearth roots of buried pain, ridicule, fear, doubt, guilt, other negative and debilitating emotions and, even, spiritual misbeliefs.
In Sweet Freedom, Teresa shares how she used simple tools, such as tearing down barriers, finding the root source of problems, forgiving things and people in her past, renouncing lies, understanding God's truth and connecting to Him in a deeper way, to break into her new healthy living lifestyle.
In her first book, Sweet Grace, now the #1 Christian Weight Loss memoir, Teresa told how she lost the weight. Now, she shares the deeper emotional and spiritual journey she went through to begin keeping the weight off. "Food," she says, "is necessary fuel to live and do the work God has called us to. However, I elevated it to something that became my god. It was what I had to have. Today, my desire is to eat to live, not live to eat. There is such freedom in that mindset shift."
If she and God can do it, you and God can do it, too.
