This item is printed on demand - Print on Demand Titel. Neuware -This book involves study and determination of mechanical properties of pure metal preforms of iron made by the process of Powder Metallurgy, owing to the recent trend of using P/M products basically in structural automotive components based in ferrous alloys. This book enrolled the designing of soft 3D model of die to be used for the preparation of iron metal preform, followed by actual manufacturing of this die. Compacted iron metal preforms were made using the die under suitable load and followed by its sintering process. Further on, the sintered preforms were cut to short L/D ratio and testing of mechanical properties was done.Iron and its alloys made by P/M technique are being considered for use in self-lubricating bearings. P/M bearings are self-lubricating because their porosity is impregnated with lubricants during the manufacturing process. In use, heat causes the lubricant to expand out of the pores forming a film between mating parts.VDM Verlag, Dudweiler Landstraße 99, 66123 Saarbrücken 52 pp. Englisch.
