Über diesen Titel

Having alienated her best friend Robin, eleven-year-old Veronica has no one to turn to for sympathy and support when it appears that her divorced father might remarry.

From School Library Journal:

Grade 4-6-- This fourth book in the series centers on Veronica, the snootiest girl in the sixth-grade class. Her character is despicable; she lies; says and does mean things to others; and manipulates her friends. Her ex-best friend, Robin, is friendly with Gretchen, an overweight girl in their class. Vowing to seek revenge, Veronica targets Gretchen with her acid tongue, but in the end, she apologizes. Throughout the story, Veronica also has to deal with her parents' divorce and her father's impending remarriage to a young woman whom Veronica despises. Finally, she begrudgingly agrees to be a bridesmaid. Characterizations are stereotyped and indistinct, except for Veronica, who is continually mean and vengeful, yet popular. The school scenes are believable, but there's nothing new in this age-old theme. Much better on the same topic is Barthe DeClements' Nothing's Fair in Fifth Grade (Viking, 1981). Unless readers have read the previous titles in this series and are clamoring for more, this book need not take up space on the shelf. --Bonnie L. Raasch, C. B. Vernon Middle School, Marion, IA
