Understanding Curses

Knowledge empowers the well of wisdom.

Ranita's Anger Tantrums

Ranita is a lady who parleys with negative words. She is a type that speaks without thinking of the implication of her utterances. She is touchy and easily aggravated. She is also controlling and domineering. Ranita uses anger to control her environment. Whenever she is not able to have her way, she starts to exhibit her anger tantrums as she curses out everyone and everything.

In view of Ranita's goodwill and generosity, everyone accepted her for who she was. The people in her environment ignored her tantrums, while she scaled through her wishes with her negative utterances. Even in church, Ranita was not able to control her behavior and utterances. Since she was involved in the welfare department and contributed generously to every event, she became the sacred cow of the denominational assembly where she fellowshipped. No one dare torch her attitude or criticized her behavior openly. She would threaten to pull out and never return again.

In a meeting of discussion, Ranita would dominate every point of discussion with her personal views and principles, and would refuse to observe all protocols. As time went by, Ranita lost respect. Although everyone kept quiet and observed her foolish expression, no one uttered a word of response. They allowed her to say and do whatever she wanted without caution until a wall of rejection was built around her.

Considering the manner in which Ranita carried on with arguments and insisted on her personal opinion, everyone started to assume that she had a mental disorder and needed psychiatric attention. People who loved her tried to assist, but she felt they were her enemies and started to avoid anyone who offered a word of advice.

Once, the Goddard family decided to take a risk on her behalf. They visited her every evening to stay with her and share the scripture and word of encouragement with Ranita. Initially, she did not appreciate the move. She was nasty and haughty toward the couple each time they knocked on her door. She would not even offer them a seat in her living room. They would stand at the door with her for about half an hour to share and pray. And then she would slam the door against them to express her dissatisfaction. However, the Goddards continued with her prayerfully. They would maintain a constant smile and joy, but Ranita would not participate in their pleasantry. She was engulfed in the wall of rejection. It had to be her opinions and wishes; otherwise, she would not be interested.

One day, Ranita was invited to one of our School of Deliverance conferences. Usually, participants were divided into groups for practicum ministration and activations. Ranita refused to participate in the group programs and sat alone. So I approached her, and she explained that she did not want anyone to despise her, as she came to the meeting to receive healing and restoration.

In view of her explanation and countenance, I invited her for counseling. She narrated all the efforts made by the Goddards and the reason she would not allow them into her living room. I had to encourage her to allow them in, since they had good intentions to assist her to overcome anger tantrums and rejection. In the process of our discussion, I began to explain the implications of her behavior as a type of curse that probably emanated from her family lineage. As soon as I touched on her family background, Ranita broke down and cried out loud, and started to beat herself. She called out her father's name as she cried out.

Surprisingly, Ranita returned to the evening session with a couple of friends, including the Goddards. She requested that I meet with them at the end of the conference. She then explained to us that her father went through a similar challenge and died from rejection. Her favorite uncle, Jossy, also died from a similar situation. Her auntie, Juana, committed abortion and died in the process, because her husband rejected the pregnancy. And now, she was going through the same challenge. The fact that she inherited her father's properties and businesses also added another dimension to her difficulties. Suitable men who related with her would not propose marriage to...
