The Spectacle � Celebrating the History of the Indianapolis 500 is a mix of historical fact and entertainment for young readers and race fans to learn about The Greatest Spectacle in Racing - the Indianapolis 500. The book features a vast number of drivers, teams and race cars that have made an impact on the rich history of racing at the Brickyard.

Rather than run through a chronological list of each race, The Spectacle � Celebrating the History of the Indianapolis 500 breaks the content up into to series of short topical sections such as The Golden Era, The British Invasion and The Four-Timer Club. A dad serves as a narrator as he teaches his kids about the Indy 500, which provides some light-hearted interaction with the kids to compliment the fact-based content. An intro and outro featuring four-time winner A.J. Foyt ties it all together in a unique, identifiable way.

The book illustrations are as authentic as possible, depicting the actual race cars and their period paints schemes, as well as many of the heroes who drove and / or built them. Readers also see the evolution of The Brickyard over time and get a sense of who the machines that race in the Indy 500 have developed over time.

Readers are treated to a mix of car views, including in-car, side, front and backward looking perspectives. All illustrations are hand-drawn and then digitized & colored for placement in the book.

Apex Legends owner and author / illustrator of The Spectacle � Celebrating the History of the Indianapolis 500 Chris Workman is a father of three and life-long fan of all forms of racing. Workman is a seasoned motorsports marketing & advertising professional who became inspired to create a series of children�s picture books about racecars, drivers, team & tracks when he yearned for similar content to read to his kids, and realized very few authentic options existed. So, he decided to create them himself!

In addition to covering all aspects of car racing in an educational and entertaining manner for kids, Workman is focused on weaving in the true magic of motorsports � family bonding & shared passions � into his books. To that point, The Spectacle � Celebrating the History of the Indianapolis 500 not only encapsulates the history of one of the greatest races in the world, but it adds a human element of how a love of racing is passed through generations.

Both of Workman�s previous books include a similar emotional bond. Josef, The Indy Car Driver is set at Road America, the first racetrack Workman ever visited in his native Wisconsin with his father and brother, and the hallowed ground that sparked his intense love of racing. And, his first book, The Longest Day � A Childhood Race Adventure chronicles the adventures of a father and son bonding together at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Workman currently resides in Huntersville, North Carolina with his wife, Rachel, and three kids.
