Derek Pardue is an associate professor in the Global Studies Department at Aarhus University in Denmark. His work has mostly concerned the political and aesthetic expressions of belonging among migrants and marginalized urban dwellers in Brazil, Portugal, Cape Verde and Denmark. His most recent books include Living (Il)legalities in Brazil, Sonic Signatures and Sobrevivendo no Inferno (Routledge, 2020), a collection of short stories inspired by the eponymous album release by the legendary Brazilian rap group Racionais MCs as part of the 33 1/3 music series.

Dr Ailbhe Kenny is based at Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, Ireland. She is a Fulbright scholar, EURIAS fellow, Irish Research Council Laureate and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge. Ailbhe is currently a PI on the HERA-funded project ‘Night Spaces: Migration, Culture and Integration in Europe’ (2019–22) and IRC-funded ‘Music in the Intercultural School: Uncovering Spaces for Agency and Belonging’ (2022–26).

Katie Young holds a Ph.D in music and is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at Brock University, Canada and editorial assistant for Ethnomusicology Forum journal. Katie has conducted research in Ghana, Ireland and Canada, and has published in a range of journals and edited volumes.
