Über diesen Titel
What exactly is sexual harassment, and what are a woman's options if she has experienced it in the workplace? What are the latest recommendations for women with a family history of breast cancer? Here is the first accessible yet authoritative reference to answer these and many other questions on a range of topics: job, career, money, health and legal issues, family and children. With practical advice about managing and resolving crises, resources available to women in crisis, outlines of relevant federal programs, and reading lists for further information, this will be an essential resource throughout every woman's life. An original Mariner paperback.Review:
Solutions: The Woman's Crisis Handbook is an ideal resource for a clinic, shelter, hot line, or public library. Despite the title, much of the content is applicable to both sexes--anyone needing to address topics from job loss to home health care could benefit from the information included here, although the text in general and many of the chapters in particular are incontrovertibly written with women in mind.
Detailed, thoroughly researched, and highly practical, the book is divided into two segments: the first provides a wealth of information on topics from maternity leave to runaway children, from mental illness to aging; the second section, nearly 100 pages, is an annotated list of services arranged by their relevance to the crisis at hand.
Solutions has a strong emphasis on legal resources. If your child is between one day and three years old and has been diagnosed with a disability, for example, this is the book that will tell you to what health care she or he may be legally entitled and how to go about obtaining it.
Whether the difficulties are at work or with violence, health, psyche, or the family, this book provides excellent guidance to direct your approach when a crisis first begins to take hold. --Elizabeth Briskin
