Elizabeth Nygaard was born and raised in Humboldt, Iowa, and recieved her Bachelor's degree from Iowa State University. She has worked as a library assistant and as an illustrator of greeting cards, magazines and activity books. Snake Alley Band, her first picture book, was inspired by doowop music as well as by many creatures that keep her family company during their summer lakeside vacations. Elizabeth Nygaard lives in Ames, Iowa, with her husband, Fred, and their children Alex and Max.
Betsy Lewin was born and raised in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Since recieving her B.F.A. from Pratt Institute, she has written and illustrated many books for children, includiing David Yozar's Yo, Hungry Wolf!, M.C. Turtle and Hip Hop Hare, and RAPunzel. She lives in Brooklyn with her husband, Ted.
