In the UK the book was shortlisted for the Steinbeck Award and the Guardian Fiction Prize, and received the Betty Trask Award. In the USA the novel won the Art Seidenbaum Award from the Los Angeles Times.
Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Born in Tanzania in 1963, Mark Behr later moved to South Africa with his family. His first novel THE SMELL OF APPLES won several awards and was shortlisted for several more.
