The Perfect Escape Can Never Be Hurried... Meet Nicholas Finn-just back from his tour of duty in Vietnam. A good kid, even if he is a bit of a hothead at times. All he wants to do is get on with his life-working construction and studying architecture at university-and getting to know his new love, Annika.

Nick doesn't go looking for trouble-but trouble seems to find him anyway, and when the commander of a local VFW sneers at his military service in Vietnam, it's the last straw. Nick's highly creative payback earns him a harsh sentence from the authorities.

When a chance to walk out of the county jail presents itself, Nick doesn't give it a second thought-even though he has no idea where he is going or what he's going to do next. He soon learns that the perfect escape can't be rushed, and that the best way forward is On the Slow Lam...
