Sikhism

This series presents to students the dynamic and experimental nature of religious belief. Readers of the books - "Judaism", "Christianity", "Islam", "Hinduism", "Sikhism" and "Buddhism" - should readily gain a feel for the human vitality of each faith. Above all, "Themes in Religion" stresses an active learning approach and a progressive understanding of the main features and world views of the religions. Each book is organized around themes designed to meet GCSE syllabus requirements: beliefs; celebrations; rites of passage; scriptures; worship; pilgrimage; and values. The amount of space given to each theme varies in accordance with its improtance for the particular religion. The style of the books should enable students to be well informed about each faith and aware of some of its fundamental principles before reaching the section on values. This last section then seeks to show the practical worth and application of those fundamental principles. The activities, clearly-defined spreads and general content all relate very closely to the criteria of GCSE syllabuses.
