The selected techniques include image segmentation, segmentation evaluation and comparison, saliency object detection, motion analysis, mathematical morphology methods, face recognition and expression classification. The author offers readers a three‐step strategy toward problem‐solving: first, essential principles; then, a detailed explanation; and finally, a discussion on practical and working techniques for specific tasks. Yu-Jin Zhang is a tenured professor of image engineering at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. He earned his PhD in Applied Science from the State University of Li�ge, Belgium. He was a post-doc fellow of Delft University of Technology, Delft, the Netherlands. He is also a CSIG and SPIE fellow. Dr. Zhang has published 50 books and more than 500 research papers.
