This is one of the most thoughtful and useful books I've read, and certainly a must-read for anyone in the health professions. This narrative will help health professionals learn to provide more supportive, compassionate, and collaborative care.

Beyond that, it is an amazing book for any of us trying to live consciously on this planet. Dann gives step by step, humorous, compassionate, and practical instructions for what worked for him to move towards becoming his best self.

Second Wind is an emotionally gripping story of one person’s commitment to thrive with a cancer diagnosis. Each chapter provides coping tools to be successful on your own journey. The building blocks to assure thriving are all outlined.

There is a rare intimacy as Dann leads readers through his journey. The book is hard to put down. As a survivor I found myself saying, “I felt that, too!”

The book provided a way for me to reflect on how I handled fear, anger, and a host of other issues. By the end of the book I was asking, how did cancer lead me back to myself?

Second Wind is honest, vulnerable and informative! It will open a lot of eyes about how to advocate for oneself. I especially like the exercises after each chapter.

While anyone with cancer will get a lot out of this book, I wish I could have read it three and a half years ago, when I was first diagnosed.
